TREATMENT AND TOOLS FOR TRAUMA (He/Him)
Licensed Psychoanalyst, PH.D., IN PSYCHOANALYSIS AND NEUROSCIENCE, CERTIFIED PSYCHOANALYST, PSY.A, & LICENSED PSYCHOANALYST
My background is in both psychoanalysis and neuroscience (doctorate) and I am also a Certified and Licensed Psychoanalyst. So I am able to bring both a background in research into mind/brain issues, and I am trained as a clinician. I have been working with trauma for many years, and most recently (2016) I have been working with traumatic brain injury patients (including professional athletes). I am grateful for my dual background in mind/brain, because all brain injured patients require both perspectives. In August of 2023 I published "The Complex Architecture and Healing of Traumatic Brain Injuries: Listening to The Brain" with Cambridge Scholars Publishing in the UK. This is the story (based on case histories) of the journey to find a "healing road" for all persons who have had serious disruptions in brain functioning. This is very, very challenging territory to work in. And in my experience, requires a great collaboration between doctor and patient. I am also the author of "Moon Over Seaville," the story of the hunt for a serial arsonist in Southern California (in 4 Episodes). Available everywhere under "Mystery/Thrillers." I have patients all across the country (via phone). Brain injuries can be healed!

My practice has evolved over 30 years from children and adolescents to trauma victims to brain injuries. I still see children, adolescents, couples and families and trauma victims, but the majority of my work is now with traumatic brain injuries. I work with psychoanalysis (talk therapy) (understanding the unconscious which drives all of us, resolving a patient's resistances to doing what is best for them, and exploring the patient's psychic structure which determines how we all interact with ourselves and the world around us). I work with brain imaging technology to better understand the patient's brain structure. I work with "flow activities" which are ideal zones for both physical and psychological healing. I work with supplements for brain health. I work with sleep and dreams (essential for healing trauma). And I incorporate healing sound music into the treatment (from Steven Halpern's music for inner peace). I schedule sessions 2-3 times per, once a week, or once every 2 weeks, depending on the patient's needs. The sessions are 50 minutes in length.
