Tyler Clark Burke Practice Description
As a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) and trained art therapist based in downtown Toronto, I am committed to co-creating a supportive space where you can explore your experiences and emotions. I incorporate somatic practices and insights from neurobiological research to support healing from trauma, depression, chronic pain, and anxiety. I am also trained in somatic- and attachment-based EMDR, which is an optional feature of my practice. In our work together, we may explore the relationship between the body and mind, using somatic practices to support connecting to your physiological sensations. This approach may help manage chronic pain or illness or even support those of us who are verbal processors or who find themselves stuck in their thoughts. Somatic grounding and mindfulness exercises are not just coping tools for our sessions—they’re techniques you can integrate into your everyday life to help manage stress and improve overall well-being. As a mother and therapist, I have a layered understanding of the challenges that come with parenting, especially when supporting experiences or diagnoses of neurodivergence and OCD. I offer support to parents and families, providing a compassionate and informed perspective. I also facilitate groups and workshops for women, particularly those navigating significant life transitions like menopause. These groups offer a space for connection, shared experiences, and mutual support. As a climate-aware therapist (and one committed to evidence-based care), I understand the emotional toll that environmental issues can have on our individual and collective mental health. My practice offers the option to explore these themes through art therapy, where we may use natural materials to create art that reflects your experiences with climate change (including feelings of climate distress, isolation, or powerlessness). My background as a children's book author has enriched my therapeutic practice—particularly when exploring themes of grief, loss, and transformation. I optionally incorporate narrative therapy, using storytelling, writing, and poetry as tools to help you process and reframe your experiences. This approach is particularly effective with teenagers, and I have enjoyed facilitating groups like "Graphic Novel Storytelling for Teens," where young people can express themselves creatively while navigating their emotions. I believe in a personalized approach to therapy, tailored to your unique needs and goals. A free consultation is a chance to share what you’re looking for in therapy and to see if we might be a good fit.
