Donovan Beattie

Therapist, LPCA
I help clients navigate a variety of challenges, from trauma and personal growth to gender identity exploration. My approach is rooted in a mix of self-education and collaboration with other professionals, so I can offer well-rounded and thoughtful support. I’m all about creating a warm, welcoming space where you can feel comfortable digging into whatever brought you to therapy. Reaching out for support is no small thing—it’s a life-changing step, and I truly admire my clients for taking it. I love weaving humor and warmth into my sessions because therapy doesn’t always have to feel so heavy. Outside of work, I’m a proud cat enthusiast, a Pilates lover, and the go-to funny one in my circle of family and friends. Therapy offers a judgment-free zone where you can be your truest self without worrying about letting anyone down. My goal is to help you feel heard, supported, and empowered as we navigate life’s twists and turns together.

In my online therapy practice, I specialize in EMDR therapy as a transformative approach to assist individuals in their journey towards healing from trauma and narcissistic abuse, ultimately guiding them back to a place of self-love and emotional equilibrium. The lingering effects of childhood physical, emotional, or sexual abuse, along with the enduring impact of narcissistic abuse, can become deeply entrenched within the body, leading to symptoms of depression, anxiety, hypervigilance, and challenges in navigating relationships and daily life. I employ a video platform known as remotEMDR, which is specifically designed to facilitate EMDR therapy. This innovative approach aims to reshape the way these distressing memories are stored in the brain, fostering resolution and inner peace. To complement this therapy, I incorporate mind-body practices such as mindfulness, meditation, and breathwork, all of which serve to amplify the healing process. Drawing on my background as a neuropsychologist, I possess the expertise to help individuals identify their blind spots, condition their thoughts, and ultimately rewire their brains for enduring happiness and success. My mission is to provide a comprehensive and holistic approach to healing that empowers individuals on their path to transformation and well-being.

Asking for help is challenging enough, and I believe that the online format removes some of the other stressors normally associated with beginning therapy. One of the most important "ingredients" for success in therapy is feeling comfortable in the therapy setting. With online therapy, clients enjoy the convenience of meeting with me from wherever they feel most comfortable. Online therapy also eliminates the need for a commute to an office or sitting in a waiting area. With some of the stress eliminated, we can really get to work!
