Does this sound familiar? You want to feel peaceful and content, but instead you are feeling: overwhelmed by stress, totally burned out, or even debilitated by anxiety. It’s been hard for you to manage the emotional toll of constant and often unrealistic demands. You can rarely find a moment to stop and catch your breath. Each day feels like you are being stretched a bit thinner and you wonder how much you have left to give. Life doesn’t have to go on this way. Hi, I’m Dr. Jennifer McManus and I help ambitious women find relief from stress, burnout, anxiety, and deep emotional pain. It is my mission to provide scientifically informed psychotherapy without sacrificing compassion and genuine concern.

Since the pandemic shook our world and the experience of how we connect with others, I have been practicing remotely. I have found that teletherapy has been as effective as meeting in person in terms of relationship building, creating a safe space, and communicating openly, honestly, and directly. For many clients with busy lives, online therapy reduces the obstacles of travel, traffic, and parking, and provides a simple way of managing billing/payment.

I strive to create a safe space to reflect on who you are and what you experience, learn to relate to difficult experiences in new ways, and empower you to make choices about how you want to be. Together we build awareness, compassion, and understanding and orient you towards living a full, vital, and connected life - as you define it. I’ve practiced telehealth using secure video conferencing for many years because I love helping people get the compassionate and cutting-edge care they deserve. Even if they live locally to my practice, many healthcare providers, busy professionals, caregivers, and those with limited mobility find this a welcome way to carve out some meaningful time for reflection, healing, and rejuvenation.

Are you in need of a supportive and empathetic listener, who can provide feedback and guidance and will tailor treatment to fit your individual needs? I work with individuals, couples, and families. I see clients with anxiety, depression, trauma, stress, or low self- esteem and many other issues. I also have experience working with people who have various addiction problems and their families. Some of the issues that people that come to see me are struggling with are relationship problems, communication difficulties, loneliness, life transitions, and work-life balance. Do you want to feel happier and more confident because you have been struggling with negative emotions and low self-worth? Do you want to cope with your loss or trauma because you have been feeling overwhelmed and stuck in the past? Do you want to communicate better and resolve conflicts with others in your life? Are you struggling with marriage problems and not sure what to do to make your marriage last? We will first complete an assessment and then we will work collaboratively to produce a treatment plan based on your specific individual needs. I see individuals, couples, and families. I have day and evening appointment hours. I use various approaches to treatment including Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), Motivational Interviewing, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Narrative therapy. For couples therapy, I apply principles from the Gottman method, emotionally focused couples therapy and narrative therapy. I look forward to working with you to reduce distress and increase well-being, to improve relationships and social skills, and to find meaning and purpose in your life. I am passionate about all matters pertaining to mental and emotional health and well-being. I enjoy helping my clients to be able to identify their own strengths and to start believing in their capabilities to achieve their goals and realize their dreams. I feel that, often, the necessary ingredient for this to happen is simply having someone believe in you and to walk side-by-side in the journey.
