FEAR! The strongest of ALL emotions. Paradoxically it's been fundamental to our evolutionary success: particularly fleeing predators and other sources of harm. It's kept us alive for the 200,000 years of our existence as humans. We're not all that strong, we don't have claws and fangs --but we can run long distances! And it matters not one bit that our fear of that growl in the undergrowth may be unfounded. We can get that wrong 1000 times and if we flee we survive as a consequence.
Just as your smoke alarm has one volume (LOUD!) it's natural to be fearful of what we perceive may harm us. We often overestimate the size and proximity of threats and conversely underestimate our ability to cope. Fear is powerful BUT it can often interfere with logic and reason. That's why we need to respect fear and reassess our relationship to it. And courage is not the absence of fear; mindset is everything and mindset can be developed to ensure we have optimal strategies for the stresses and adversities that regularly afflict us.

I provide Cognitive Behaviour Therapy which is the recommended psychological therapy for panic attacks, agoraphobia, social anxiety/ social phobia, other phobias, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Generalised Anxiety Disorder* and stress/ burnout. I have several years experience of supporting clients who had been bullied at school or gone through workplace bullying, harrassment, stalking, domestic violence and court proceedings. During my professional qualification I chose to specialise in panic attacks and agoraphobia for my research and dissertation. I have provided therapy for clients who had phobias of elevators, buses, trains, underground trains, bees, dogs, hospitals, needles, blood, injuries, and childbirth. I can also provide CBT for depression, traumas and PTSD. *GAD also known as chronic neurosis is excessive and persistent worrying about several areas of your life, worry that is out of proportion with the situation and interfering with day-to-day life, a feeling of not being able to control worrying, and difficulties around overthinking and planning for potential problems that have not occurred.

Gaye Mallinson - Somatic Psychotherapies
Counselor/Therapist, B.Soc.Ser. (Couns), Dip. Couns, Trauma Informed Yoga Cert, Pranayama Cert, Nidra Cert
I work primarily from a Rogerian or Person-Centred Therapy (PCT) approach using a conversational style listening patiently to you, always with empathy, genuineness and without judgement, to help find the solutions you desire for your life whilst adjusting my techniques to fit your needs within each session.
I can also utilise various assessments to measure the severity of a specific problem, as well as determining your progress within therapy. I can provide a copy of these for your doctor to assist you further where requested.
I am able to utilise specific somatic (mind/body) therapy techniques within the therapy session to support greater healing of the underlying and often subconscious cause. These gentle but effective techniques create a new positive sense of self.
My aim is to assist you with your life difficulties from fear or anxiety to restore balance, happiness and inner peace with various techniques of 'talk therapy' and somatic (mind/body) healing methods, along with offering practical strategies that may be useful where suitable and desired by you. Whatever you are going through, know that there is hope - Let me help you find that hope.

Debbie Debonaire
Counselor/Therapist, BA Hons, IMTTA, Heartmath Coach
I guide individuals in understanding the causes of their anxiety and fear symptoms. Together, we look at these causes, then introduce and build on the strategies that will serve them the best and allow them to create their own coping mechanisms so that they can overcome these anxieties and fears to live a calm and free life. Anxiety and fears, addressed through Anxiety Disorders Therapy, are a focus that aims to alleviate persistent worry and irrational fears that interfere with daily life. This speciality involves diagnosing specific anxiety disorders, such as generalized anxiety disorder, panic disorder, and phobias, and employing evidence-based treatments to manage them. Using a combination of cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT), exposure therapy, meditation, Heartmath Principles and mindfulness techniques to help individuals confront their fears, reduce anxiety symptoms, and regain control over their lives.

Experiencing anxiety can feel crippling for many of us. I work with clients in initially building internal and external resources to help manage anxiety. Being resourced in this way enables clients to explore further, to develop greater awareness as to what is underneath the anxiety, which can help to bring a sense of greater freedom.

Louise Perry
Therapist, IFS UKCP HCCP BAAT
My journey to becoming a psychotherapist was profoundly shaped by my own experience with anxiety. In 2000, I faced a period so overwhelming that it led to hospitalization—a turning point that deepened my understanding of how isolating and consuming anxiety can feel. This lived experience drives my passion for helping others navigate the complexities of mental health with compassion and empathy.
I know what it’s like to feel overwhelmed by your inner world, and I also know that recovery and growth are possible. Today, I combine my personal insight with professional training in Integrative Art Psychotherapy and Internal Family Systems (IFS) to create a safe and supportive space for clients to explore their experiences.
Whether you’re wrestling with anxiety, trying to untangle patterns of thought and behavior, or seeking tools to regain a sense of balance, I am here to help. My approach is warm, grounded, and adaptable. We can work through talking, creative expression, or a blend of both—whatever feels most comfortable and effective for you.
Reaching out for help takes courage, and I am committed to walking alongside you as you rediscover your strength and capacity for change.
