Online video counseling (through a professional, secure, encrypted, and easy-to-use provider)! Research and experience have shown that online therapy is not only AS effective as in-person but sometimes even more so given its convenience and your ability to feel comfortable wherever you are and not lose time traveling and finding new places; it also provides an option for clinicians to access services outside of their professional network. We have been providing online services with success for years and will continue to do so given it's ability to deliver excellent results.

Not all clients are ideal for telehealth services, and we can discuss whether or not telehealth services will work on a case by case basis, or given other extenuating circumstances (COVID-19 lockdowns, health concerns, inclement weather, etc). There are some potential risks with telehealth including a) at times the video image may be unclear or inadequate, b) a disruption in the connection may occur, or c) in rare circumstances, the information may be intercepted by unauthorized persons. When we are working via telehealth, sessions are not recorded unless that has been discussed beforehand. I would encourage you to take every precaution to preserve the confidentiality of our sessions, such as ensuring that calls are taken in a safe and secure location to the extent possible. At any time, you may decide to discontinue teletherapy sessions. I will refer you to a local mental health provider who can provide face-to-face services, or we can discuss transitioning our meetings to face-to-face instead.

I hold a space for my clients that is safe and supportive, where self-discovery, growth, vulnerability, connection, and healing what's been under the surface can happen. Working through and processing complex experiences and emotions can help a person gain perspective, develop coping skills and learn strategies to break negative thought and behavioral patterns. This creates opportunities for increased happiness and self-confidence, and improvement in overall functioning from work-life to academics and relationships. I want my clients to be able to live life without the weight of anxiety, impacts of trauma and chronic stress, depression and self-doubt acting as a barrier and a source of pain. Mental health is health, and I want to help my clients live their healthiest, happiest lives. Therapy is not just for people in crisis! Therapy is for anyone who wants support navigating the challenges and complexities of life, and wants to improve mental well-being and overall well-being. You don't have to go at it alone.

I will give you the tools to heal, transform, identify, and utilize your strengths to address everyday challenges. Equally, I will provide you with time to make those adjustments, as we all know there can be setbacks along the way, but that doesn’t have to stop us. Together, we will build a stronger community. I strive to create a safe space to reflect on who you are and what you experience, learn to relate to difficult experiences in new ways, and empower you to make choices about how you want to be. Together we build awareness, compassion, and understanding and orient you towards living a full, vital, and connected life - as you define it. I’ve practiced telehealth using secure video conferencing for many years because I love helping people get the compassionate and cutting-edge care they deserve. Even if they live locally to my practice, many healthcare providers, busy professionals, caregivers, and those with limited mobility find this a welcome way to carve out some meaningful time for reflection, healing, and rejuvenation.

 therapist: Alisa Lin, counselor/therapist
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Alisa Lin

Counselor/Therapist, Counselor in Training
A safe, nonjudgmental, and supportive environment can provide comfort and peace when sharing and self-reflecting on your life journey. I provide various resources to help clients build up their self-care and coping skills outside of sessions so the work we do together is reflectant in your everyday life. We will work together to learn to recognize a personal perception of an external situation and how it impacts emotions, body sensations, and behaviors, cope with negative feelings, build positive communication skills, and reduce feelings of anxiety so you can live life as your most fulfilled self. I understand the importance of taking the time to listen to the client’s concerns and understand their perspective. Clear expectations and providing consistent recognition and validation are essential to success. My priority is always to ensure the client receives the best possible care, and I will put in the necessary time and effort to ensure this. Setting achievable goals to help individuals grow professionally and personally is key to therapy. Mind our mind, everyone deserves care and support for mental health. There is no official point in determining when to consider therapy; it is part of health promotion and disease prevention. Just like many conditions, early detection is the key to wellness.
