I'm accepting telehealth (online) clients in most states via PSYPACT, an interjurisdictional practice compact which facilitates greater access to specialized care. I use a HIPAA compliant electronic health record in order to protect your privacy. We can meet anywhere you have privacy, feel safe to be yourself, and have a reliable internet connection. This often involves meeting in the comfort of your home, a (non-moving) vehicle, or your place of employment. I've found that online therapy allows increased flexibility/convenience and reduces time and resources spent driving to and from an office location. If you have questions about meeting via telehealth, I'm happy to answer them in our initial consultation.  

You only need a private, comfortable space, good Internet access, and an electronic device with a camera. Hands-free is preferred, so we recommend a computer. All video sessions are conducted through a HIPAA-compliant portal. You can access sessions via any web browser. Typically, your internet is good to go if you can stream videos without issues.  

I strive to create a safe space to reflect on who you are and what you experience, learn to relate to difficult experiences in new ways, and empower you to make choices about how you want to be. Together we build awareness, compassion, and understanding and orient you towards living a full, vital, and connected life - as you define it. I’ve practiced telehealth using secure video conferencing for many years because I love helping people get the compassionate and cutting-edge care they deserve. Even if they live locally to my practice, many healthcare providers, busy professionals, caregivers, and those with limited mobility find this a welcome way to carve out some meaningful time for reflection, healing, and rejuvenation.

Since the pandemic shook our world and the experience of how we connect with others, I have been practicing remotely. I have found that teletherapy has been as effective as meeting in person in terms of relationship building, creating a safe space, and communicating openly, honestly, and directly. For many clients with busy lives, online therapy reduces the obstacles of travel, traffic, and parking, and provides a simple way of managing billing/payment.  

Dr. Amanda Roberts has close to 40 years of experience in the mental health field and 27 years of deep immersion and expertise in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy, EMDR. She is also trained in hypnosis and a variety of mind-body modalities. She has a growing interest in the neurobiological basis of effective psychotherapies and, in particular, neuroplasticity. She studied Psychology at Harvard University, earned a Bachelors in Political Science with an emphasis in International Relations from the University of California Berkeley, has a Master’s degree in Marriage Family Therapy from the University of San Francisco and earned her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the California Institute of Integral Studies in San Francisco, CIIS. At CIIS the curriculum marries eastern philosophy and religion with traditional western empirical psychological training. Her dissertation was a quality of life study on the use of laughter and humor in the treatment of cancer survivors. Her specialty is working with the psychological ramifications of medical issues, a branch of psychology known as Behavioral Medicine or Health Psychology. She has successfully worked with treatment resistant medically unexplained symptoms as well as chronic migraines, pain, cardiac, auto-immune, eating disorders and cancer. An additional specialty is in the treatment of recent traumatic/adverse events with ongoing traumatic stress. Dr. Roberts also provides clinical consultation to other EMDR clinicians individually and in groups remotely via Zoom. Dr Roberts is an EMDR International Association Approved Consultant and has been a Trauma Recovery Humanitarian Assistance Programs approved consultant, an EMDR trainer in early intervention and former leader of the Western Massachusetts Trauma Recovery Network, a community disaster response program. She has conducted R-TEP G-TEP trainings around the US for trauma clinicians and has been instrumental in setting up the Trauma Response Network in Britain formed in 2017 in response to terrorism and mass casualty events. She advised them on logistical and clinical issues. Dr. Roberts has an enduring and lifelong passion for global and international humanitarian issues. She completed three pre-doctoral internships at Stanford’s Drug and Alcohol Clinic, Stanford’s Counseling and Psychological Services and San Mateo County Mental Health Services and two post-doctoral internships.One in a national employee assistance program and another at the University of Massachusetts Memorial Center Medical school, ranked among the top ten medical schools in the United States. She worked in the Behavioral Medicine Clinic at the University of Massachusetts with rotations throughout cardiac and oncology, pain and bariatric surgery services. She has served on a mobile psychiatric crisis unit, in a full-service hospital emergency room, community mental health clinics and outreach, inpatient, general outpatient and two pain clinics. She has provided trainings/workshops nationally and internationally on a variety of mental health topics and was on the United Nations working team of EMDR therapists acting to introduce EMDR Therapy as a modality to be used in humanitarian programs around the world. More recently, as an EMDR ambassador, she facilitated, an engagement with the World Bank in the Philippines and has been involved in various leadership capacities. She launched a global initiative in 2018 called PRISE, a curriculum designed for paraprofessionals to deliver resliency training in resource poor areas of the world. https://www.prisehealth.org/ She is a consummate researcher and launched the world’s first EMDR clinical trial looking at the efficacy of the EMDR Group Traumatic Episode Protocol, GTEP with an oncology population. This protocol also has applicability to other medical/psychological populations. She holds herself to the highest standards of excellence and expects the same from others.

We have provided online therapy options since 2017 - before the pandemic enabled it as a mainstream service - and are therefore well-versed in both helping you feel comfortable and see desired results through this digital session option. I specialize in delivering short-term care designed to provide you with the skills, insights, and resources needed to begin making meaningful changes now instead of after months or years of therapy. I am a generalist with a focus on sexual health, compulsive sexual behavior, and neurodivergence including adult autism and ADHD assessment.  

Although I see clients in person if you live close to me in NC, I am "authorized" to see clients through Teletherapy by PsyPact, which lets me work with folks in all PsyPact states. I see individuals and couples (who sometimes aren't in the same place!) on my platform, and there is an "ease" that I don't think people expect. My core theory approach is Interpersonal Psychotherapy (combined with CBT, Gestalt, attention to lifestyle, spiritual life and career). I use testing to give us a "quickstart", namely the MBTI, FIRO/B, and Strong Interest Inventory. I also have a list of "handouts" (You wouldn't guess that I've been a professor in Counseling Psychology, would you?!) and a model called the Interpersonal Flexibility Circle that I've developed to more clearly see concretely how relationships really work. All of these methods support our work and are teletherapy friendly. All of them support both individual and relationship therapy (even your relationship with all ages of your SELF!) I use an approach that helps people to rather quickly recognize how their "stuck challenges" and defenses have been "safety maneuvers" for perhaps their whole lives. How enlightening and empowering!

Kimberly E. Johnson, PsyD, HSPP, APIT, is a Clinical Psychologist and owner of Worldview Psychological Services, LLC. Dr. Johnson holds a Doctorate and Master of Clinical Psychology from the former John F. Kennedy University in Pleasant Hill, CA. She also has a Bachelor of Computer Science from the University of Idaho. Dr. Johnson has expertise in assessing and delivering psychotherapy and education to diverse and underserved populations in California, New York, Indiana and across the nation. Her clients include African Americans, White, Latino, Asian, African, older adults, LGBTQ, Military, Veteran, police, firefighters, and public safety populations. She has worked in VA Hospitals, Psychiatric State Hospitals, outpatient clinics, Rehabilitation and Nursing Facilities, and other organizations evaluating mental health conditions for compensation or fitness for duty.
