London, England therapist: Donna Collins, registered psychotherapist

Donna Collins

Registered Psychotherapist, BSc (hons), PGDip, SupervisionDip
Online therapy is an amazing way for clients all over the world to have access to their choice of therapist! I offer a free initial 15 minute consultation for potential clients to meet me and sense whether they would like to start working with me going forward. I find that online therapy works! It helps clients heal through a therapeutic relationship in the same way as therapy that is in person whilst also giving the benefits of less time as no travelling and more choice globally. I provide an incredibly safe, holding space. I work in a very intuitive way and this means that a screen never becomes a barrier to the work. I always work with you at your pace and many clients have been able to experience transformation within themselves and in their lives during their work with me.

Glasgow, Scotland therapist: Heather Macfarlane, registered psychotherapist
Female

Heather Macfarlane

Registered Psychotherapist, Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist
I believe people seek therapy because they want to make a change in their lives. This can be scary, but having felt overwhelmed and anxious at times myself, I hope to be able to offer a supportive, calm, safe environment for you to explore your issues and work towards the best solution for you. I'd be happy to have an initial chat to answer any questions you may have about working together. It has been found time and time again, that it is the relationship between client and therapist which is the most important factor in successful therapy, rather than the type of therapy offered. That's why it's so important that you feel comfortable in choosing a therapist that fits your needs.

I have been offering psychoanalytic psychotherapy online since 2010. During the COVID 19 pandemic I am working exclusively online. At other times about one third of my busy private practice is delivered online. I have found that doing therapy online can be highly effective. It may not be suitable for everyone so it’s important to have an initial online session to chat through the options

Although it's different to working in person, we can connect deeply and see great shifts when we work together online. It's possible to address not only thoughts and feelings, but patterns of communication and somatic (body related) aspects of therapy effectively and safely. While you may prefer to meet in person, the option to meet online via Zoom (or your preferred platform) means that if you feel drawn to working together you're not limited to being within travel distance of London. Online flexibility can also work beautifully if you travel regularly travel for work or personal reasons.

Shareen Birges

Registered Social Worker, BASS, GDYMH, MSW
I specialise in eMental Health (online therapy and telehealth) & have been working primarily in the online space since 2015 (however have been practicing since 2008). The feedback I get from clients is an appreciation of the convenience & flexibility of the online space and I am passionate about the accessibility, affordability & sustainability of counselling. I have learnt how to use my "online workspace" to build rapport with clients, fostering a collaborative relationship with them and creating a safe and comfortable space for them to be open and honest with me and themselves. I have been able to do this by using my vast experience in counselling in person, and continue to offer in person counselling.

Finding the right counsellor for you is one of the most important parts that will make therapy more effective and successful for you. Its not just about our qualifications but how we connect and work together. I am a Neurodivergent counsellor and have found this out very late in life, I understand how it feels to just not fit in or be able to conform to the 'norms' of society, to struggle to work out why we are different. How to find ways to learn who you are and love all those 'quirks' that make us different. I understand how this feels and will work with you to help you find your way to manage what you are experiencing. I have learnt experience with CNBC - childless not by choice and Chronic Pain & Fatigue conditions. With both of these I find it can really be beneficial that I have an understanding of how it feels and not just how it is to study these experiences. As well as working with Adults I also work as a counsellor with young people in schools, colleges and my private practice.
