Prayer and reflection on scripture are incorporated to foster spiritual growth and resilience. Our anger management therapy focuses on helping individuals recognize the signs of anger and develop effective strategies to cope with and express this powerful emotion constructively. Understanding that anger can significantly impact relationships, work life, and overall well-being, we provide a supportive environment where clients can explore the roots of their anger and learn to manage its expression healthily. Tailored Strategies for Managing Anger * Self-awareness Techniques: Through the use of techniques like mindfulness and self-reflection, we guide individuals in identifying the triggers and situational factors that lead to anger. Enhanced self-awareness makes it possible to anticipate and prepare for potentially infuriating situations. * Cognitive-behavioral Therapy (CBT): A core component of our approach involves cognitive-behavioral therapy, which enables individuals to understand the thought processes that underpin anger and to develop healthier thinking patterns. By altering these thoughts, clients can change their emotional responses and behavioral outcomes. * Communication Skills Training: As poor communication often exacerbates anger issues, we emphasize enhancing interpersonal skills. This includes learning assertive communication techniques that enable individuals to express their needs and emotions clearly and respectfully, without falling back on aggressive or passive-aggressive behaviors. * Stress Reduction Techniques: Clients are equipped with techniques to reduce stress, such as deep breathing exercises, physical activity, or relaxation strategies. By lowering overall stress levels, individuals can better control their emotional responses, including anger. * Problem-solving Skills: We work to strengthen problem-solving skills to help clients address the issues that trigger their anger in more effective ways. This includes focusing on identifying solutions rather than dwelling on problems. * Group Therapy Sessions: For some, understanding and observing that others face similar challenges with anger can be incredibly reassuring and enlightening. Group sessions provide a forum for sharing experiences and strategies, further aiding the learning process. Goals of Anger Management Therapy Our objective is to empower individuals not just to manage their anger, but to transform it into a positive force that drives change rather than destruction. By the end of therapy, clients are better equipped to handle life’s frustrations without lashing out, leading to improved relationships, greater personal satisfaction, and a more balanced life. If anger is affecting your life and relationships, reach out to us. Together, we can explore the root causes of your anger and provide you with the tools to manage it effectively.

Annapolis, Maryland therapist: Eric Weinstein, life coach
Anger Management

Eric Weinstein

Life Coach, Hypnosis and NLP, shamanic healing, Energy Psychology (including "tapping"), Voice Dialogue
I understand anger, the effect it has on one’s life, and how it affects the people around you. When clients see me as a peaceful guy, they’re seeing the result of a lot of healing work (with more to do). I’ve had considerable success helping clients with anger problems, perhaps because I believe anger management is secondary to healing. I believe most people who are angry are like volcanos. Even though the anger that shows on the surface in the present is hot enough to burn the client and everyone around him or her, there’s even more heat and energy “under ground” – in the past. So I usually focus on healing the past first – without having to spend a lot of time talking about it. Once that unresolved pain and anger is mostly dissolved, clients don’t get triggered as easily or as forcefully. The next focus is on reducing everyday frustrations. When the little things don't bug you as much, you'll be cooler under pressure and when bigger problems come up. , and have enough presence of mind to use anger management tools instead of losing control. Note: I don’t do court-mandated anger management. If you live in Fairfax County, call my colleague Gary Niki at 202-241-0944.
