Trauma can be debilitating. I work with each person to first have tools to better manage the anxiety and depressive symptoms that may be present. From there we can then process the memories of the trauma.

Grace in the Shadows

Licensed Professional Counselor, PhD, MDiv, MA, NCMHC, ALMHC, VALMHC
I address trauma and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) with a compassionate and faith-centered approach, integrating psychological expertise with Christian principles to guide individuals toward healing and restoration. Recognizing the profound impact of trauma on the mind, emotions, and spirit, I create a safe and supportive environment that incorporates prayer, scriptural reflection, and discussions on God's healing power. Drawing upon biblical teachings of comfort, resilience, and restoration, the counselor collaborates with individuals to navigate the effects of trauma and develop coping strategies. Encouraging a reliance on God's strength and the transformative power of faith, the counselor assists individuals in processing and overcoming traumatic experiences while fostering a sense of safety and trust in their Christian beliefs. This integrated approach aims to support individuals in their journey toward emotional healing, resilience, and spiritual renewal within the context of Christian values.

London, England therapist: Louise Perry, therapist
Trauma and PTSD

Louise Perry

Therapist, IFS UKCP HCCP BAAT
Trauma has a way of lingering long after the immediate threat has passed, leaving deep emotional imprints that can manifest as PTSD or Complex PTSD (CPTSD). These experiences can affect how you see yourself, your relationships, and the world around you. As an Art and IFS (Internal Family Systems) Psychotherapist, I understand how difficult it can be to feel safe, grounded, or in control when past events still hold so much power. My aim is to help you gently untangle these traumas, providing a supportive space where healing can unfold at your own pace. In our work together, we’ll use creative expression to bring to light the complex emotions and memories that can be challenging to put into words. With IFS, we’ll identify and understand the different parts within you—the protectors, the wounded parts, and the aspects of yourself that yearn for peace. By acknowledging and nurturing these parts, we can gradually soften their grip and restore a sense of stability and self-compassion. You deserve to reclaim your sense of safety, personal agency, and wholeness. With compassion, patience, and respect for your journey, I am here to help you move forward, rediscover your resilience, and build a more hopeful future.

Fort Mitchell, Alabama therapist: Gregory Smith, counselor/therapist
Trauma and PTSD

Gregory Smith

Counselor/Therapist, ALC (Associate Licensed Counselor), BCPC
Since trauma is at the root of PTSD and dissociation, I understand the effects that trauma has upon an individual. In the 1990's, I worked as a North Carolina Paramedic and experienced the effects that trauma can have upon an individual. Whether it is childhood traumas, military experience traumas, or any other unexpected experiences that the flight and fight response system was not an option, and therefore, the freeze response resulted in the trauma; healing requires various approaches. Being a pastor living overseas for 19 years ministering to American military stationed outside of the USA has given me many opportunities to minister to those affected by trauma. Often those who experienced traumatic experiences on more than one occasion develop complex PTSD with dissociation. My experience working with dissociative individuals is very beneficial when understanding and helping those with PTSD and sometime complex PTSD.
