Didsbury, Alberta therapist: Meredith Mpinga, counselor/therapist
Chronic Pain or Illness

Meredith Mpinga

Counsellor/Therapist, MA, CPC
As a covid-conscious therapist, I want to ensure that Meadowinds is a safe space for clients who are vulnerable or suffering from chronic illness. Our current dystopian reality can bring up so many feelings of grief, loneliness, despair, anger... and yet often the supports and resources we've relied on in the past to help us through challenges are not as accessible today. Whether you want a safe space to process your own emotions, losses, and challenges with the ongoing pandemic, or you just want a therapist who won't pathologise your precautions as you seek support for other concerns, I'm here for you. At Meadowinds, sessions are available either in person with masking or on an online video platform from the comfort of your home. Current office protocols include running an air purifier with HEPA filtration, staggering sessions to limit contact in the waiting room, and transitioning to an online session if symptomatic.

I have a special interest in helping clients manage chronic illness and chronic pain. I know how difficult it can be, physically and emotionally, to navigate daily tasks and expectations. Toronto, Ontario therapist: Forouz Salari, registered social worker
Chronic Pain or Illness

Forouz Salari

Registered Social Worker, MA, MSW, RSW
Living with a chronic illness (such as PCOS, endometriosis, Crohn's disease, Celiac disease, Lupus, etc.) or chronic pain (resulting from a chronic illness, injury or trauma) can radically change your mental, emotional and physical capacity to engage in your life, including your work / studies, relationships, hobbies, interests and self-care activities. Living with these types of invisible disabilities means that others struggle to understand, empathize with, and extend grace and compassion towards you. They either do not know about, do not think about, cannot imagine, or refuse to offer you the types of accommodations that would support you to show up, engage and contribute to the best of your abilities. This can make you feel further misunderstood, isolated and marginalized, and reduce your access to resources and opportunities for care and growth. Let's work together to: Practice self-acceptance and self-compassion. Learn effective ways of managing your stress to reduce the intensity of the symptoms of chronic illness and chronic pain. Clarify your unique needs and boundaries. Create doable plans to feel more balanced, well, fulfilled and engaged in your work / studies, relationships, and personal life. Learn about and self-advocate for academic & workplace accommodations that can set you up for success.

Chronic Pain or Illness

Meera Duncan

Counsellor/Therapist, Author, Registered Counselling Therapist, Registered Clinical Counselling Hypnotherapist, & Addictions Counsellor
Are you struggling with chronic pain or illness? Clinical Hypnotherapy is proven to have dramatic results in reducing pain levels. I utilize clinical hypnosis and hypnotherapy, tapping, counselling, and cognitive behavioural therapy with clients to reduce the physical and emotional toll this pain creates. I myself was severely injured in an elevator accident in 1998 and accidentally discovered hypnosis after a decade of debilitating severe chronic pain levels. Hypnosis changed everything for me which is why I became a Clinical Hypnotherapist. If you are ready to begin your journey of healing please contact me today.

Calgary, Alberta therapist: Laura Romero, psychologist
Chronic Pain or Illness

Laura Romero

Psychologist, MC, R.Psych
Chronic pain and/or illness can be traumatic. Without a deep rooted sense of self and a toolkit filled with available resources, clients battling with chronic pain or illness can be left feeling helpless and hopeless. My job is to help clients re-instill hope and purpose back into their lives so they remember that there is more to them than their pain or illness.
