Grief and loss are some of the most profound and personal experiences we face. Whether it’s the loss of a loved one, a relationship, a job, or even a sense of identity, grief can feel isolating and overwhelming. It’s a journey without a map, where emotions can shift from sadness to anger, confusion to numbness, and back again. At times, it may seem like no one truly understands the depth of your pain. That’s why working with a therapist who has real-life experience with grief and loss can make all the difference. Our therapists understand not just from their professional training but also from their personal journeys. They’ve walked through the raw, unpredictable waves of grief themselves and know what it means to rebuild after loss. This lived experience allows them to offer empathy, compassion, and support that feels genuine and grounded. Grief isn’t a one-size-fits-all experience, and there’s no “right” way to grieve. For some, it’s about finding ways to hold onto memories while moving forward. For others, it’s navigating the shock of sudden loss or the quiet ache of long-term mourning. No matter where you are in your journey, therapy can provide a safe space to process your emotions, rediscover your strength, and find meaning in life again. Grief doesn’t need to be faced alone. Our therapists are here to walk alongside you, offering real understanding and tools to navigate your unique path. Together, we can work through the pain and help you find moments of peace, connection, and hope—even in the face of loss.

Dr. Christina J. Gonzalez

Licensed Professional Counselor, EdD, LMHC, NCC
Have you lost someone important to you in your life and are struggling to move forward? Do people try to tell you that you need to grieve differently or make you feel wrong for not grieving the way they think you should? Grief is a very personal reaction to loss in our can impact us very deeply, sometimes changing our entire lives. After a significant loss, we tend to start seeing the world as “before” and “after” the loss occurred. We can find ourselves feeling deeply rooted emotions of sadness, of anger, of betrayal, or of longing or even find ourselves feeling numb and not able to feel anything at all. I’m no stranger to grief. While I have had extensive training in my 20 years of being a licensed mental health counselor, my experience goes beyond that training to my personal experiences with loss- including the lost of my elder son when he was barely 23. Even though we will all lose someone close to us sooner or later, when the time comes, often times we are unprepared. My experience was not your experience but my experience taught me so much more than any book or workshop could teach me. I love bringing honor to my son in many ways but one of those ways is by helping others manage their issues with grief and loss and help them learn to move forward while never forgetting the ones they have left behind. We are the sum total of all of the people we love and all of the experiences we have had and even though our loss may never be replaced, we CAN learn to create a new life in the new circumstances. My counseling style is warm and interactive and I strongly believe that ANYONE can make changes in their life. My passion is helping YOU create a life you love and relationships that nurture and support you. It takes courage to take the steps to create a more fulfilling, happier life and to take the first steps towards making changes. If you are ready to take that step, I am here to support and empower you!
