Nina Hopmeier
Licensed Professional Counsellor, Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC)
Being an ADHD Certified Clinical Services Provider (ADHD-CCSP), I am passionate about helping you tackle obstacles that delay your wellbeing. People with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) sometimes feel helpless in managing symptoms such as inattention or impulsivity. A large portion of our work will be exploring your unique struggles because every person experiences symptoms of ADHD in varying ways. I will help you gain a deeper understanding of the factors that exacerbate your difficulties. I will also provide psychoeducation on the relationship between ADHD and the brain. Collaboratively we can devise a treatment plan that combats the specific struggles you are experiencing.

Darren Williamson
Counsellor/Therapist, RCC (#23397)
ADHD is an epidemic in our society. ADHD is a signal from your brain that something important is missing, and your mind might feel “scattered” as you try to do everything you need to do despite this deficit. Biologically speaking, what you are missing is “dopamine,” the transmitter in your brain which regulates motivation and satisfaction, and that scattered feeling is “executive dysfunction”, or an inability to prioritize one thing among many in your mind. This leads to lethargy, procrastination, the feeling of “overwhelm”, and inevitably a degree of “spacing out.”
Therapy is a wonderful tool for combatting ADHD. We will explore your values and goals so you can set meaningful priorities. We will examine your procrastination, and what function it serves in your life. What negative thoughts and feelings does it help you avoid? We will practice tricks and exercises that help you overcome your “stuckness” and get yourself moving.
Seeking help is the first step in creating change.
