Theodosia Daflos
Counsellor/Therapist, MA
Social anxiety is one of the most common anxiety disorders. Many people have some discomfort meeting new people, talking in front of a group, making or answering phone calls, and making small talk. Anxiety in social situations starts becoming a problem if it's causing you difficulties in work, school, with your family, keeping or making friends, or is very intense when you're in these situations. Using Cognitive Behavioural Therapy or Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, we will learn to accurately assess the fears you have in these situations, and learn skills to manage your anxiety when it does not match the threat of the situation. We will also work on interpersonal skills training to help with more accurate communicating if this is something you struggles with, as well as setting and maintaining boundaries and limits.

Do worries about what others think prevent you from connecting with others?
Do you avoid social situations altogether due to fear of embarrassment or criticism?
We Can Help:
Understanding Social Anxiety: We'll explore the root causes of your social anxiety and provide information about how it works.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT): CBT is a powerful tool for social anxiety. We'll help you identify negative thought patterns and develop coping mechanisms to challenge them.
Exposure Therapy (gradually facing feared situations): In a safe and controlled online environment, we can help you gradually expose yourself to social situations that trigger your anxiety, building confidence and reducing fear.
Social Skills Training: We can teach you practical skills for navigating social situations, including communication skills, assertiveness training, and relaxation techniques.
Building Confidence and Self-Compassion: Our goal is to empower you to connect with others authentically and build a healthy sense of self-worth, regardless of social situations.
Finding Connection Online:
While social anxiety can make in-person therapy daunting, online therapy offers a safe and convenient space to address your fears and develop tools for managing social anxiety.

Philip Starkman
Registered Psychotherapist, MSW, RSW
In my approach to helping clients overcome social anxiety, I craft a nurturing space where individuals can safely tackle their fears. Integrating Mindfulness, the Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), Role-Playing, and specifically, Exposure Therapy, we collaboratively develop a path to confidence and ease in social situations. This comprehensive approach is designed to gently confront and desensitize clients to the social scenarios that trigger their anxiety, enhancing coping mechanisms and fostering resilience. By also focusing on building social skills and self-awareness, our aim is to empower individuals to navigate interpersonal interactions with greater comfort and less fear. My role is to guide and support you through this transformative process, offering the insights and techniques necessary for managing social anxiety. Together, we work towards achieving a more fulfilling and engaged life, helping you to step out into the world with confidence.
