Loss or Grief

Sonny Granade

Marriage and Family Therapist, MA, AMFT
Experiencing a major loss and the grief that follows can make us feel unmoored and overwhelmed, stranded someplace between who we once were and who we are becoming. I work with my clients to gently and compassionately explore what lays inside these vulnerable periods of transition, including the potential for growth and evolution.

I specialize in life transition themes, including the impact of grief and loss on relationships and trauma related to the visceral experience of grief, and helping folks move on with their lives.

Grief and loss may be one of the most universal experiences, yet it can be extremely isolating experiencing grief in a society that does not know how to talk about these issues. Loss or Grief

Jonathan Kruger Therapy

Marriage and Family Therapist, LMFT
While the loss of loved ones is a natural and normal part of life, loss that is unexpected, untimely, accidental, or drawn out, may lead to trauma for those left behind. The grief associated with such trauma can be debilitating and, perhaps even more challenging, isolating. Such grief can also have a cascading effect, leading to deeper depression, anxiety, fear, and maladaptive behaviors to address these overwhelming emotions. While grieving is natural and must run its course, I believe strongly that any loss can be helped through exploration of the corresponding emotions and behaviors with an objective and trusted therapist. My approach to grief and loss is anchored in my own experience. Having lost most of my family over a very brief window of time, I know well the many emotions that accompany such unexpected and sudden loss. My treatment approach is a merger of my clinical skill set with a deeply empathetic ear, anchored in the coping mechanisms I personally deployed to help manage the many transitions through my own grief. In my work with my patients around loss and grief, I focus on navigating the negative emotions that can accompany loss (guilt, anger, hopelessness, overwhelming sadness) while, over time and when appropriate, jointly crafting with my patients a narrative that celebrates the life of those that have moved on, and facilitates the release of those emotions that can keep patients “stuck” in the trauma of unexpected loss.

Loss or Grief

Jennifer Nyhan

Marriage and Family Therapist, MA, LMFT
Everyone will lose a loved one at some point. It is an inescapable experience. Some losses, though, can leave you feeling untethered and uncertain how to put one foot in front of the next. I am here to help you manage emotions that feel overwhelming, tap into your strengths and coping skills, and work to develop new tools to help you cope and function after loss. I specialize in traumatic loss, which occurs when loss comes suddenly, and often violently. This type of loss leaves those left behind often dealing with both grief and trauma symptoms and responses. I work with individuals, families and groups to address both the trauma response as well as the grief. An often-overlooked loss is infertility. I help individuals and couples work through the stress, anxiety, depression, stigma, anger, and relationship strain that can result from the struggles to conceive.
