I assist clients in exploring the voice, intention, operations, and effects of their thoughts. This process helps clients perceive these thoughts as external to themselves, empowering us to find ways to challenge and weaken their grip.

Suicidal thoughts are more common than you might think, and help exists.
Together in the therapy room we'll work to understand the source(s) of your pain and develop a more gentle narrative about your past. We will also help you develop stronger coping and regulation skills so everyday tasks don't seem as daunting or draining. Let's help you build hope for a brighter future. Don't wait. Regain control and find the support you deserve.

Christian Holmes
Marriage and Family Therapist, M.A., Associate Marriage and Family Therapist
Suicidal thoughts are some of the hardest things to admit to. People often worry "What happens if I say something?" or "How I will this affect my friends, family, spouse?" The first thing to know about suicidal thoughts is you're not alone and secondly, suicidal thoughts are often not really about suicide, it's about getting the pain to stop. In our work together, I will help you identify, process and overcome that pain. I take a collaborate approach where we address the stressors, traumas, family dynamics, and negative beliefs that keep you stuck so you can enjoy life again.

Marriage and Family Therapist, LMFT
If suicidal thoughts are something common that you've been living with for a long time, then weekly therapy may be appropriate for you. The limitation of weekly, telehealth sessions exists when your thoughts begin to create a plan and you notice your hopelessness rising, along with more and more intent to act on the plan. While suicidal ideation can be unpredictable, and I am able to support you in finding the level of care you need, if the time does come, I do not start a therapeutic relationship with someone who needs more care than I can currently give through Zoom sessions.
I volunteered as a Hotline Crisis Counselor at Didi Hirsch's Suicide Hotline before graduate school. My skills and technique for facing crises continued to develop through school and client experience.
When you're not in crisis, we'll be sure to emphasize techniques of building safety in your environment, in our relationship, as well as within your own body during and outside of our sessions. We'll emphasize where you feel some sense of hope and purpose and give space for any and all the existing ambiguity.
