Nicole Bermensolo

Marriage and Family Therapist, M.A., AMFT
If being a parent in 2022 is difficult, being a kid in 2022 is near impossible. I am passionate about working with children and adolescents in close collaboration with parents/care-givers to assist in a myriad of issues, including anxiety, depression, school avoidance, bullying, self-esteem, divorce, co-parenting, and trauma. I utilize a unique combination of interactive play therapy, relational therapy, and EMDR (if appropriate) in order to give your child the most effective therapy experience.

San Francisco, California therapist: Tandra Froehlich Childress, marriage and family therapist
Child or Adolescent Issues

Tandra Froehlich Childress

Marriage and Family Therapist, ATR, LMFT
I have worked with children and teens in multiple settings (mother, mentor, therapist). I am in awe of what strong young adults our youth are developing into. In these positions, I have noticed the many challenges they face. The teen and preteen years are confusing. Youth must figure out who they are, where they belong, and what they want to be. In addition to this feat, youth are challenged with a competitive academic environment and the constant watchful eye of social media. This can create intense stress and feelings that nobody is real. It is no wonder then, that anxiety and depression are increasing. As a therapist, I aide youth in discovering their passions, increasing self-esteem, calming anxieties, and finding their unique voice. Modern day society weighs heavy on our youth. With an understanding heart and open mind it is my passion to help carry that weight.

Irvine, California therapist: Dr. David Shapiro, psychologist
Child or Adolescent Issues

Dr. David Shapiro

Psychologist, California Licensed Psychologist (License# PSY17495)
Historically I worked a lot with children and adolescents. In recent years I have shifted away from working with young kids but still work with quite a number of adolescents. Very often this work involves meeting individually with the teen, but often too do I also hold sessions with the teen and their parent. Other times, I coach parents of teens without necessarily working directly with the teen themselves. My approach tends to involve helping adolescents learn to make healthy decisions by assisting them in thinking through their choices, consequences, and essentially assisting them in becoming more effective in finding strategies that will get them the results they want while minimizing negative outcomes. In general I avoid sharing much information about them with their parents directly unless there is a concern about safety. Rather, my approach is to help the teen to communicate with their parents themselves. When it would be helpful I often help the teen to have these healthier communications with there parents in family therapy sessions. As a parenting coach, I try to assist parents in shifting to age appropriate parenting strategies when possible.
