I am one of the few (only?) therapists, who understands the connection between depression and low blood sugar. Low blood sugar is an epidemic due to SAD: Standard American Diet. My protocols for fixing diet are mostly effortless. Once low blood sugar is stablized, THEN you we release and heal the root causes of the depression, most often found in childhood.
Depression is a challenging mental health condition that extends beyond momentary feelings of sadness, leading to a sustained sense of sorrow, disinterest in once-enjoyed activities, and difficulty with everyday tasks. It's not just an occasional down day; it's a continuous struggle that can persist. Symptoms can vary, potentially bringing about sleep or appetite changes, feelings of guilt, or even suicidal thoughts. As a therapist specializing in mindfulness and somatic-based interventions, I'm here to compassionately guide you. Depression is treatable, and through our therapeutic journey together, we'll harness the power of mindful awareness and body-centered techniques to foster resilience, self-compassion, and healing.
Depression is often a symptom of other, underlying issues. Hypnosis can not only help to discover any underlying causes by accessing subconscious beliefs, but can be used to help resolve them and feel better.

I have a lot of experience working with clients who experience depression, ranging in severity, and clients who have co-occuring depression and anxiety and those who have a dual diagnosis. I support medication if I client is taking it, but also approach these issues with ACT, body-oriented practices and mindfulness.
Major life stressors often trigger flare-ups of mental health challenges.

Feeling overwhelmed by sadness, hopelessness, or a loss of interest in life? Depression is a treatable condition. Together, we can explore the underlying causes of your depression and develop strategies to improve your mood and well-being.
Genetics, adverse life experiences, and high pressure environments can lead to feeling overwhelmed and depressed. Using a variety of methods tailored to your special needs I aim to reduce the suffering caused by depression. Some of these methods include Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Art Therapy, and EMDR.
Depression can feel isolating and heavy, often making it difficult to find joy or motivation in daily life. In our sessions, I provide a compassionate and supportive environment where you can openly explore your feelings and experiences. Together, we will identify the underlying factors contributing to your depression and develop practical strategies to help you cope. Utilizing evidence-based approaches such as CBT, EMDR and mindfulness, we’ll work on challenging negative thought patterns, setting achievable goals, and fostering self-compassion. My aim is to empower you to regain a sense of hope and connection, guiding you on a path toward healing and renewed purpose.
Often when painful feelings have become too overwhelming to process and we're having recurring negative thoughts about ourselves or the world, we become depressed. Sometimes it takes the hope and guidance of another to navigate the way through.
Many people who struggle with depression feel alone and isolated, while in fact, depression is a surprisingly common human experience. Part of what is so important is knowing that you are not alone, that you matter, and that it is possible to feel better. Depending on the severity of your depression, you may not believe any of these things at first, but my job is to hold onto the hope for you until you're ready to take it on yourself. Medication can be very helpful for some people, and I can work with your prescriber to find what works for you should you want to try it. Depression is complex, and when severe, we can feel stuck and "beyond help." It can be hard to believe therapy can be beneficial because of depression's influence on our sense of self-worth, agency, and motivation. We'll work together to manage your symptoms, which may likely begin with understanding them. I think of depression as a lead jacket (like at the dentist) that weighs you down as you navigate life, and dark sunglass that create a skewed lens through which you see the world. Let's take off that jacket and those sunglasses, help you feel lighter, and create a new way of being in the world.
I assist those who experience acute depression and/or chronic sadness. We'll explore the root, the external stressors, and current thought patterns that contribute to depressed mood while identifying the appropriate tools to face and overcome these emotional experiences.
Being a human is hard. Who doesn't get depressed now and again? But what if it is more than that? You've been feeling a little down, then the day comes when you just cannot get out of bed, nothing sounds fun (not even the things that usually do), and you just can't quite get yourself to make that call or take that walk, even though you know it might help you to feel better. Then the day stretches to two days, then three, and it starts to feel like you will never feel "normal" again. These feelings are intense, and painful, and you do not have to suffer them alone. Gloom, hopelessness, unrelenting sadness can lead to feelings of inadequacy and thoughts of 'what's the point?' Depression can interfere with work performance, making it difficult to concentrate or complete tasks; the quality of our relationships and feelings of connection can also suffer. When we have a place to process and to learn new skills we can learn to manage, and even reverse, these feelings and thoughts that keep us from living life to its fullest.
