Dallas Willard was asked, "What is the key to the spiritual life?" His response? "The key to the spiritual life is to ruthlessly eradicate hurry from your life. How about this...let's slow things down and give you the time and attention your soul needs. If momentum is the thief of intimacy, let's explore some helpful ways for you to sit in stillness and begin to listen to your inner life.
Spirituality work is deeply personal and unique. I enjoy working to help people come to a more centered and peaceful place with regards to their own spiritual journey. While I believe that religion and spirituality are two seperate (but often connected things) I am happy to work with people from varied areas and levels of spiritual and religious background.
People often minimize the impact of religious trauma. It's like having a million apps running in the background, which slows your computer speed and its ability to complete tasks. You do not have to live life in the slow and glitchy lane. You can rediscover who you are. Therapy can help you re-evaluate your values and your wants in life instead of being told what they are. You can re-learn so you can have healthy relationships with others. Find a new belief system to replace the one that no longer fits you. It can feel scary to trust a therapist give that you have been hurt before. However, therapy is a good first step in learning not only how to trust others but also how to trust yourself.
Spiritual and emotional health are intertwined. As we accept God's unconditional love, we can reflect on the wounded parts of ourselves, understand what lies at the root of our symptoms and experience emotional healing from past trauma.
