It takes courage to change, especially when you feel stuck with painful and confusing thoughts and feelings. You may find yourself struggling to change self-defeating behaviors and frustrated you can’t find relief. Psychotherapy can help you get unstuck. As we explore what is bothering you, you develop a deeper understanding of what is keeping you stuck and use that understanding to work toward living a more fulfilling life. Psychotherapy is a process for better understanding ourselves, especially our automatic, often hidden, and sometimes contradictory motivations, feelings, and desires. If you’re interested in understanding and addressing the psychological factors underlying your concerns in life, I might be a good fit for you. Please take a look at my website and contact me to schedule a free phone consultation.

Are you feeling like you’re in an antagonistic relationship? Do you find yourself questioning your reality because a loved one denies what you clearly hear and see? Are they avoiding responsibility for their actions? Did you grow up in a household where you convinced yourself everything was normal, but deep down, you sensed something wasn’t right? If you experience any of these symptoms—hyperarousal, irritability, chronic fatigue, chronic shame, overeating, substance abuse, difficulties trusting others or yourself, trouble relating to others, avoidance of certain situations or memories, or physical symptoms like tightness in your shoulders, jaw, or stomach—you may be dealing with the aftermath of abuse. I specialize in helping individuals who are victims of abuse. However, if your relationship involves active emotional or physical abuse, and one partner is predominantly abusive, individual counseling for each of you may be more suitable. My approach is most effective when both partners have experienced abuse but are not in an antagonistic dynamic where one person is the primary abuser.
