In recent years, Forgiveness therapy has become an increasingly popular and increasingly researched approach to psychotherapy. Forgiveness therapy is not only applicable to situations of significant past trauma, but to many other psychological concerns as well, as learning the capacity to transcend one's rightful contentions about a world or society that has given the person far less than a fair lot in life, can free a person to start to experience pleasure and meaning once again.
We all experience hurt in life at the hand of others, but some of us experience devastating blows that seem to paralyze us and resurfaces over and over again. As a result we find ourselves battling unforgiveness, bitterness and resentment. Someone once said that unforgiveness is like drinking poison and expecting the other person to die. Forgiveness is freeing. Through forgiveness therapy I help usher my clients down the path of healing and wholeness to freedom from the grip of unforgiveness. This freedom enables them to reclaim their power, their voice and their peace so they can move forward.
Letting go can be difficult. However, holding on to resentment can have a negative impact on our lives, making difficult to establish healthy relationships with others and ourselves. In therapy we can work together to process the negative events you can't let go and explore healthier ways of coping with painful situations by embracing the power of forgiveness. It is not easy, but we can work together to instill hope and compassion.
