I believe that we are hard-wired for relationship. If you're already good at partnering, you're blessed. If you're NOT really good at it, you can learn. Robust mental health, happiness in love and in work -- these are what make a joyful life.

Integrative

Diane Vaillancourt

Pre-Licensed Professional, M.A., psychotherapist, Life Coach
I believe healing takes place when the core of the emotions/feelings is identified and then expressed. Our emotions and behavior are mostly covered and protected to avoid pain. There is no healing without feeling the pain but it's only temporary. Once the pain is felt and released the door for Joy has opened. I also use EFT, Spirituality and Energy Healing as it complements the process of therapy.

Neha Chawla

Licensed Psychoanalyst, MA, ATR-BC, LCAT, LP, FIPA
I believe that taking the time and effort to self-reflect, observe ourselves and delve deeper into the root causes of our conflicts, challenges, painful relationships and difficult realities is a worthwhile endeavor. The process of turning inward, inquiring into yourself and getting to know your own mind is a vital self-investment that can help you experience this life with more depth, freedom and contentment. Together we can discover important insights, new coping strategies and engender a sense of clarity and purpose in a safe, meaningful and non-judgmental therapeutic space. I have experience working with individuals and couples, often but not limited to issues around stress, depression or anxiety, burnout, career conflicts, unhealthy relationships patterns, communication issues, divorce, family conflicts, parenting challenges, creative blocks, social anxiety, sexuality, loss/grief, child and adult trauma and illness (chronic or terminal). Having served as a therapist in multiple settings from mental health clinics, hospitals, schools, universities and hospice care, my practice has spanned a wide variety of ages, settings and demographics. I am passionate about my work and supporting people as they heal and grow and so, I invite you to meet with me for an initial consultation and decide for yourself whether we are a good working match.

Clifton, New Jersey therapist: Dr. Mike Abrams, psychologist
Integrative

Dr. Mike Abrams

Psychologist, PhD, MBA, ABPP
I limit my practice to a few clients with whom I can offer meaningful help. I do not think it is ethical for a psychologist to agree to work with someone who has a problem outside of their expertise or someone who has barriers that the psychologist suspects they cannot overcome. When I conclude that I can help someone, I collaborate with them while applying the most appropriate methods for their problems. I choose these methods from among the many I have studied or developed. This is sometimes called a Transdiagnostic Integrative technique. Here, a clinical label or diagnosis is less important than the unique collection of symptoms a person is living with. I also make sure that I come to understand the client's point of view, how their adversities, their personal philosophy, and their level of suffering combine to lead to their anxiety, depressed mood, or even anger. When the client agrees, I prefer to use psychological testing to be sure my assessment of the client's situation is supported by the best available science. When I conduct psychotherapy, I know it can only be effective when I view the client as presenting many intricate problems that must be fully understood, so each client's issues are approached as scientific hypotheses that guide therapy, which guide my specific interventions, but is always open to revision as new life history information or psychological data becomes available. Since I have trained numerous therapists and continue researching and publishing in the field, my clients are assured they receiving the most effective evidence-based interventions. If you do see me, you can be confident that you will be unconditionally accepted in a safe and comfortable therapeutic relationship with every effort being made to help you.
