I assist in processing difficult emotions and life situations, regulating the nervous system so that it doesn’t get stuck in fight-flight-freeze stress responses, and finding new ways of reacting to life’s challenges and build resilience. In the sessions we do not only talk, but I also offer breath and movement techniques to regulate the nervous system, to relax or boost energy, to overcome helplessness, anxiety, to feel calm, strong and confident during hardships.

Dr Aneliya Gonsard
Psychologist, DClinPscy, MSc, BA
Professional burnout, post-traumatic stress, interpersonal conflict - these are different examples of stressful experiences that can be of chronic and incredibly taxing nature. Some people lack a robust capacity to know their own limits and set boundaries; others find themselves in the midst of stressful life events (e.g. sudden illness of self or a loved one; loss of income and basic security; being subjected to discrimination, or any other form of maltreatment), and it becomes really hard to adapt and cope emotionally.
I offer a confidential space where we can think together about what has and is happening to you, how you experience it and what hinders you managing stress more sustainable way.

How do you deal with stress?
We feel stress whenever we have the feeling of losing control. When we think we cannot cope with the amount of work, when something unforeseeable thwarts our plans or when the demands placed on us are too high etc. - then stress always arises.
Created by fear of possible catastrophes, of failure or of not being able to do something, stress drives our adrenaline levels up. This costs the body an enormous amount of energy and in the long run can even make us seriously ill.
A study by Harvard University has now found that employees with personnel responsibility are on average less stressed. The control you gain through more responsibility apparently outweighs the stress. This means that the more we relinquish control and feel out of control, the more we feel stressed.
