I approach depression from an Adlerian perspective. When I'm working with a depressed client I help my client look at the purpose of their depression -- not the cause, and help them uncover the repressed anger that is at the root of the issue. Using CBT we will explore the irrational thinking that contributes to expectations and anger. Together we will work to find more productive ways to tackle stress and problems.
