Recently, I was watching a video clip of Brene Brown, the renowned social worker and shame researcher. She talked about empathy as the antidote to shame. Whereas shame that is hidden is permitted to grow and thrive, shame that is shared with an understanding and empathic ear has the opportunity to transform. Self-Esteem will be explored through a Narrative and CBT approach. The therapy session will explore your narrative in relation to self-esteem. This will be done through a discussion about your beliefs, behaviour and thoughts about yourself.
We often hold stuck concepts of ourselves as problematic or not good enough. Our minds may focus on thoughts, feelings, and stories, that seem to confirm we are not good enough, unloveable, or unworthy in some way. The danger is when we define ourselves by these beliefs.
