Equine Therapy can help individuals and families build confidence, self -efficiency, communication, trust, social skills, impulse control and learn healthy boundary setting. Horses are great therapists because they give immediate feedback. Research shows positive physical and psychological results from humans interacting with horses. These include, but are not limited to , decreased blood pressure and heart rate, lower levels of stress, reduced feelings of tension, anxiety, anger and hostility, as well as increased levels of beta-endorphins, and beneficial feelings of self -esteem, empowerment, patience and trust. Often clients experiencing anxiety and ocd have difficulty relating to other human beings, and will not accept closeness with another, but they will with horses. There is a bond that develops over time with equine - assisted therapy that is profound and natural . This bond helps with affection, assertiveness, confidence , empathy,self-control, responsibility, unconditional acceptance. This type of therapy is experiential and provides opportunities for metaphorical learning. Using metaphors , either in activities or discussion, is an effective technique for working with individuals. Non-verbal communication with a Horse helps clients better understand themselves and how they relate with others in the world. Equine-assisted therapy is psychodrama, which allows action to help heal the past, clarify the situation in the present, and help you envision a brighter future.

I want to provide each client with the support they are looking for through an individualized and collaborative approach. In a non-judgmental space, I work from a strengths-based and trauma-informed framework. Although I value an integrative approach to therapy, I am drawn to a psychodynamic orientation, to explore the root of the issue at hand.

I understand reaching out to begin therapy can be intimidating. My biggest priority is ensuring you feel comfortable, genuinely seen, supported, with empathy and without judgment. I help support clients struggling with anxiety, depression, neurodivergence, eating disorders, trauma, relationship and communication issues, emotion dysregulation, as well as concerns related to self-esteem and self-development. My approach to therapy centers my clients, integrating evidence-based approaches of cognitive-behavioral, interpersonal, emotion-focused, and acceptance & commitment therapies as well as distress tolerance and mindfulness-based interventions. Above all, I believe in providing collaborative, individualized care, where we'll work together to discover your hopes, strengths, therapeutic goals, and an approach that resonates with you. My mottos are : "Be the cycle-breaking hero of your family lineage! The buck stops with you. Stop Dimming Your Light AND start disrupting multigenerational family patterns" I have created a unique blend of traditional talk therapy and eastern based modalities that work with the mind, the body and the soul which I call Holistic Psychotherapy. In addition to verbal unpacking of the core issues, I use neural science, visualization and intention to rewire the mind and belief systems that a person may have learned as survival tools in childhood, that no longer work for them in their adult lives and relationships. The work powerfully affects permanent and long-lasting change in an adult individuals, couples and/or adult families. My main focus is to disrupt multi generational dysfunction.

Asking for help is a sign of strength. If you are looking for help with anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma, BPD, PTSD or have been a victim of narcissistic abuse, it takes courage to ask for help. Admitting you can’t do everything alone is the first step toward achieving wellness in a fast-paced, demanding world. Therapy can enable you to delve deeper through inner child work and reparenting yourself to heal your trauma wounds and move forward. Asking for help and obtaining a fresh perspective of your past is the first and most profound step toward developing the mental muscle needed to attain emotional and mental strength. As an experienced psychotherapist, I aim to help you navigate your emotions and move toward a healthy and fulfilling life. I specialize in working with women's issues and use modalities like Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, Relational Psychotherapy, Mindfulness Practices, ACT, and Solution-Focused therapy. I believe in forming an authentic therapeutic relationship with respect to the client’s cultural background. One can face difficult emotions with a suitable therapeutic approach that tailors individual emotional needs. Therapy is a safe and non-judgmental space where individuals can unpack their deepest feelings, learn to process emotions, and gain clarity.

You may be here because how you usually cope is not working right now. Sometimes we can feel 'stuck' or a 'burden' to those around us. I have a passion for working with individuals, youth, and families who are currently or have previously experienced; interpersonal conflict, anxiety, depression, trauma or complex trauma, grief, and issues with coping in daily life. Every client is different and I strive to work collaboratively with you to find a comfortable rhythm that best suits you. I focus on building a strong and trusting relationship together and knowing what you are getting into will help mediate those fears. I have my Master’s in Counselling Psychology and am a member of the College of Registered Psychotherapists. I have done post-graduate certifications in; Addictions and Mental Health, Clinical Traumatology, and therapeutic modalities (including Motivational Interviewing, DBT, CBT, Structural Family Therapy, EFT, and IFS). I am a trauma focused therapist. I come at this work from years as a peer support facilitator. I've sat with individuals, families, and groups during exceptionally difficult periods in their lives. What I know how to do is to sit with what is hard, to listen empathetically, to build a space of safety and non-judgement, and create an authentic dialogue with you as we get to know one another.
