Complex trauma can be a stubborn and unwanted life companion. Living through repeated exposure to traumatic and harmful experiences can leave you feeling unable to trust yourself or others, seeing yourself differently, and feeling chronically unsafe. And alongside those wounds, complicated grief can also be woven into the mix of post-traumatic pain.
Complicated grief is so much more than “just” a loss - it’s anger, sadness, guilt, and confusion surrounding losses that can’t always be easily defined. As a licensed professional counselor with a special interest in trauma treatment, I understand the profound impact these experiences can have on an individual’s emotional well being.
What we tell ourselves is powerful. Our thoughts have an amazing influence over how we view ourselves and relate to the world around us. I often tell my clients that being aware of the connection between what we think, what we feel, and how we act is the " secret to life." This is often the first step in helping us make the changes that we want and/or need to make. Trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), I am excited to offer groups, individual, and family sessions rooted in this model of therapy.
I see entering therapy as sacred work. I view relationships as our biggest vehicles of growth in life and believe every relationship has something that can be learned from it to help us embrace more of who we really are. I specialize in individual, couple and sex therapy, as well as trauma.
My patients and I work together to develop unique approaches to their therapeutic needs that blend their individualities, objectives, and preferences with the options available among today's state of the art treatments. I try to contain potential crises to promote stability during difficult work.
We collaborate with clients to sort out thoughts and feelings in order to make more informed decisions about what you want and need in your life. We brainstorm together to explore your options and experiment with evidenced based solutions.
