Licensed Professional Counselor, MS, NCC, LPC
Traumatic events often leave a lasting imprint on your life. Sometimes emotional healing from trauma can occur somewhat naturally, as life goes on. At other times, trauma leaves a more indelible impression on a person’s life by causing frequent bouts of emotional distress, impaired judgement, and even physiological symptoms. I employ Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, or EMDR, a form of psychotherapy developed for and scientifically proven to help people suffering from the effects of trauma and PTSD.

The impact of a single, traumatic event or experiencing an environment that provides a chronic sense of danger can have a debilitating effect on how we view the world and how we function in it. Through therapy, we'll identify how your experiences of trauma are manifested in your body and thoughts, and work on improving upon your awareness of triggers and improving coping behaviors.

In my work with trauma survivors, I draw from a range of therapeutic modalities, including: Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) and Written Exposure Therapy (WET). Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) is an evidenced-based, efficient therapy for PTSD and other psychiatric conditions. It is derived from Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). The NREPP (National Registry of Evidence-Based Programs and Practices), a subsidiary of SAMHSA (Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration), determined that accelerated resolution therapy is an effective form of treatment for PTSD. Written Exposure Therapy (WET) is recommended as a first-line treatment for PTSD in the VA/DoD Clinical Practice Guideline for Managing PTSD and it is listed as an emerging recommended treatment in the International Society for the Study of Traumatic Stress (ISTSS) guideline.
