Registered Psychotherapist, MCouns&PsychTh
You know how some men and women who are people-pleasers struggle with being too busy and always putting others first so they push down their own feelings, needs, and wants, which means they never feel truly seen, heard, known, and loved? Well, what I do is provide a safe space to deepen exploration of themselves by offering humanistic-experiential therapy sessions. This allows my clients to understand themselves better, honour their emotions, needs, and wants, and improve their relationships with others. I work well with clients who are trying to navigate new and different phases of their lives, from adolescence and above, including individual and couple work.

Whether it's anxiety, depression, grief, low self-esteem, family violence, emotional abuse, or relationship difficulties, I'm here to support you. Sometimes, traumatic memories or emotional obstacles can prevent you from feeling calm and centered, hindering your ability to live your best life. It's possible that there's something unsettling lingering in the background or that you feel pressured, rushed, isolated, or disconnected. You may feel like you can't truly be yourself. If you're facing difficulties at work, school, or with a parent or close family member, I'm here to help. Together, we will work on processing and overcoming your emotional or psychological struggles. Even small positive shifts in therapy can lead to relief and long-lasting change. I welcome adults of all ages, including those from culturally diverse backgrounds.

Colin Longworth - HPCCH Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Psychology & Counselling Services

Psychologist, MAPS, B Psych ECowan, GradDipCounselMurdoch,
I am a mature-aged Cisgender Gay Male Psychologist, Counsellor and Clinical Hypnotherapist, who came to psychology as a mature-aged student (studying mainly part time) after working in a variety of blue and white-collar jobs. I find it interesting to investigate (therapeutically) how an individual (or couple) came to be where they are at this time of life. I refer to it as my "benevolent curiosity" which I use to seek to assist clients who come to see me (in person or online). My belief is that for some clients they like the idea of working with a Gay man who is also a psychologist, and therefore (potentially) has first-hand knowledge and experience with some of the issues that an LGBTI person may experience. (i.e. the client is unlikely to need to "educate" me on aspects of LGBTI life.) I also like the thought of being able to assist other LGBTI people feel more comfortable with where they are in life, by making use of my over half a century's life experience, decades of volunteer experience, all combined with my tertiary training.
