There is healing in sharing your story in a way that feels safe, where you don't need to censor yourself and you don't need to worry about how it's being received. I am passionate about creating a space for you where you can be honest and open about what's holding you back in life, so we can together find the way to move you to where you'd like to be. Therapy is a collaborative process where we figure out what will be most helpful at this point of your journey. I adjust my approach according to what you bring to therapy, your past experiences, and what you feel that you need. But what stays the same, is how we work together so that you can overcome what holds you back in life, and move toward the life you want.

Andrea Miller

Counselor/Therapist, NCC
I have a special interest in addressing various challenges, including Trauma and PTSD, Career Counseling, Anxiety, Depression, Self-esteem/Personal Growth, Life Transitions/Adjustment, Relationship Conflict, Multicultural Issues, Religion and Spirituality, Self-harm, Suicidal Ideation, and Bipolar/Mood Disorders. In my therapeutic approach, I incorporate Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), having completed the foundational training through the Linehan Institute and contributing to CCG's comprehensive DBT team. My toolkit also includes Cognitive Behavioral (CBT), Client-Centered, Solutions Focused, Trauma-Informed, and Psychodynamic modalities, with a willingness to integrate faith and spirituality into sessions upon client request. As a Resident in Counseling in Virginia and a Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor (LGPC) in Maryland, my priority is to establish a secure and collaborative environment, drawing on my Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Marymount University. Being a National Certified Counselor (NCC) and a member of the American Counseling Association (ACA) and Chi Sigma Iota, I bring a wealth of expertise to my practice. My professional journey includes serving diverse populations at a group practice, where I supported first responders, medical staff, military personnel/veterans, international humanitarian workers, law enforcement, and journalists. I've worked with individuals facing fertility and prepartum/postpartum challenges and implemented social-emotional learning for refugee children in Germany. Beyond my counseling role, I find joy in outdoor activities, travel, culinary exploration, and quality time with my husband.

So every therapist will say they want clients to feel genuinely understood, and I think they do, but I've watched a few whole anime series that I don't personally like just to get more insight on a teen client, and I've read books and research journals for adult clients with unusual circumstances. I only mention it to point out that I'm highly motivated to "get" someone's experience, whatever that may be. I’m committed to honoring each client’s right to self-determination, guiding them toward their own goals rather than imposing my personal views. Part of that is also letting clients in on my thought process "behind the scenes" as much as I can.

Existential/Humanistic

Nancy Hayes-Gary, Psy.D.

Psychologist, Licensed Psychologist, MD , Psy.D.
I have been a psychologist in trauma work for many years, thus I can tailor my approach to meet your needs. Different ages and developmental stages throughout the life span require differing approaches. People generally wait to start therapy until their symptoms are really bothersome. I am currently accepting new patients, with no waiting list.
