Stephanie Ennen
Therapist, LPC,LCPC, LMHC
I specialize in helping individuals navigate the complexities of anxiety. I understand that anxiety can manifest in various ways—ranging from generalized worry and panic attacks to social anxiety and performance anxiety—affecting daily life and overall well-being.
In our sessions, we will work collaboratively to explore the root causes of your anxiety and identify specific triggers. Utilizing evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), we will challenge negative thought patterns and develop practical coping strategies. This method empowers you to reframe your thinking and reduce the intensity of anxious feelings.
I also integrate mindfulness and relaxation techniques into our work. These practices help cultivate present-moment awareness, allowing you to manage anxiety more effectively and develop a sense of calm amidst the chaos.
Additionally, I believe in the power of psychoeducation. By understanding the mechanisms behind anxiety, you can gain valuable insights into your experiences and learn effective tools to manage symptoms. Together, we will explore strategies for stress management, self-care, and emotional regulation tailored to your individual needs.
My goal is to create a safe and supportive environment where you can explore your thoughts and feelings, build resilience, and work towards a more balanced and fulfilling life.

How do you know you have experienced anxiety? Because you are breathing—we all experience anxiety from time to time, but for some of us that anxiety becomes overwhelming as we struggle to think straight, worry, deal with racing thoughts that just seem to go round and round in our head, or maybe even have panic attacks or heart palpitations. With all of that going on in a brain that is hypervigilant and focused on keeping us safe, life can sometimes feel as if things are just never going to get better! Whether you are experiencing anxiety relative to a situation in your life that is causing you a lot of stress, are experiencing worries that are keeping you up at night, are having specific fears or phobias that are keeping you captive, or whether you are finding yourself with panic attacks or traumatic reexperiencing, therapy can really help! Together, we can work to help you figure out the root causes of your anxiety as well as to learn ways to help you manage those anxious symptoms. We can help you learn skills to help you deal with severe anxiety and ways to prevent that mild anxiety from getting worse.
With my experience of 20 years as a licensed mental health counselor, I have worked with many people struggling to find a sense of peace while dealing with any of the anxiety disorders. As someone who is no stranger to anxiety myself, I have sought out specialized training over the course of my career to help me… so I can help you. Even if you think that things might be hopeless right now, there is real relief possible in terms of managing your anxiety and being able to live a life you love.
My counseling style is warm and interactive and I strongly believe that ANYONE can make changes in their life. My passion is helping YOU create a life you love and relationships that nurture and support you.
It takes courage to take the steps to create a more fulfilling, happier life and to take the first steps towards making changes. If you are ready to take that step, I am here to support and empower you!

Most therapeutic issues originate with a threat that elicits the emotion of fear. Fear will almost always want to introduce you to its cousin, anxiety. Anxiety is a worry about the future and some folks' brains befriend it because it can feel like they're actually doing something about the fear when they allow anxious thoughts. Some of us really buy in and get addicted to anxiety, then we might have a disorder on our hands. Anxiety disorder can also lead into depression. Some try to get rid of anxiety by channeling it into hypervigilence, doubt, overthinking, perfectionism, "control issues", people pleasing or avoidance. You know where that goes.
Chronic severe anxiety can be toxic and hard on the brain and the body. But I hold chronic forms of moderate anxiety responsible for fatigue and poor performance, for keeping folks on the sidelines of life and obstructing a whole lot of dreams from being realized. The trouble is that 1. the manifestation of anxiety is quite normalized in our culture and 2. some folks have been living with it for so long it feels like part of who they are. So, the first line of order in therapy is to increase our awareness of its presence, to identify it clearly. Healing trauma from the past can effectively reduce a lot of anxiety in your life. I also use Judson Brewer's process for "unwinding anxiety" when clients have habituated to the experience of anxiety.
